Welcome to Life Plus Africa!

This is the post excerpt.

Life Plus Africa is here to add TASTE to life. We are an African initiative to solve the root cause of unhappiness. Many Positive Psychologists and Life Coaches helping people battling with unhappiness are versed in the ‘how’ of unhappiness and they proffer solutions along that line. However, the best way to help people attain unending happiness is to proffer solutions based on the ‘why’ of unhappiness. At Life Plus Africa, we will be using the basic tools and methods of ancient wisdom which is not alien to Africa. Life Plus Africa is the brainwork of Dr. Adeolu Olusodo (ADEOLUSODO), a medical doctor blessed with the ancient wisdom and Miss Folake Abike Odidi (ABIKEREDEFINED) the enigmatic inspirational writer and entrepreneur. We are here to add TASTE to your life.

THE DEATH OF HER HUSBAND SAVED MY MARRIAGE

By an Anonymous Writer

Susan was attending a funeral.

A funeral at Langata Cemetery, her friend had lost her husband.

Susan held her wailing friend strongly as the casket was lowered into the freshly dug grave.

Susan’s friend was screaming “My husband don’t leave! Don’t leave me!” as people looked on feeling sad for her. The children were screaming too, losing a father is not an easy thing.

If it wasn’t for Susan, the friend would have thrown herself into the grave to be buried with her husband who died of suicide. The husband found no meaning in life and killed himself.

Susan remembered the many times the friend would say she is tired of her good for nothing husband and here she is screaming and feeling lost because the husband is no more.

The friend cried till she fainted. Susan and the rest had to carry the devasted woman to an ambulance for first aid.

As Susan watched the spectacle of broken hearts crying for a man who will never ever come back, Susan remembered her husband.

Susan remembered how much she takes her husband for granted, how she talks to him however she pleases, how she gives him prolonged silent treatment over issues they can easily solve. “What if my husband was to die today and be silent for good?” Susan thought.

Susan remembered how this morning she argued with her husband and he left the house with tension between them just because after all these years, he still leaves his plate in the living room instead of taking it to the sink.

“God forbid, but what if my husband never returns and passes on, is this the last memory I would like my husband and I to have?” She thought.

Susan began to remember all the wonderful things her husband does and how she rarely appreciates him and often complains to and about him. At that moment she knew despite his areas of improvement, there is no other man she would rather share her life with than her loving husband. She thought of life without him and it scared her. She would rather have the disagreements here and there than to lose him to death. She would rather have his sense of humour and laughter than to cry for losing him.

That evening, after Susan took her widowed friend to a safe place, she passed by the supermarket, bought her husband a card saying “Thank you for being in my life”, got home and cooked her husband’s favourite meal and asked her children to join her in celebrating her husband.

That night, her husband came home expecting a fight from Susan. Instead, he got greeted by hugs from Susan and the children. He was welcomed with songs, dancing and laughter, cute drawings of him with warm messages from the children, a home cooked meal, pleasant convesations. Susan’s husband teared up when Susan and the children told him how much they love him and then surrounded him to pray for him. A grown cried because of love. He felt needed.

“Is it father’s day?” he asked.

Susan looked into his eyes and said, “No, it is love day. Every day is special with you around and from now on, we will do nothing but love each other. I don’t know how long we have to live together, but it will not be wasted by fights, misunderstanding, complains and lack of appreciaton. Incase you have forgotten, I love you”

“I love you too” said Susan’s husband as he kissed and hugged Susan, the children dancing and cheering on. Children long for a home where mom and dad give each other warmth.

Since then, both Susan and her husband have been a stronger and more loving couple after realizing that tomorrow is not guaranteed. Sometimes the death of someone wakes us up to the reality of life. Don’t let the death of your spouse wake you up when it is too late.

God forbid, if your spouse was to pass on, will you regret how you have been treating him/her? Do you think living alone without your spouse will be joyful to you? Will you be able to transfer your children to another man or woman whom they have not grown to know? If you decide to be a single father or mother, will you be able to do the job alone? Can you stand the pain of your kids asking why they don’t have a father or mother like others? What is it that you cannot mend? No doubt its not easy, but prayerfully Love your spouse while he/she lives. It rubs on the children as well. So, please mend your home, don’t destroy it.

You are not on your own

Is there anyone who had input into when and where he/she will be born? Or is there any who had a choice which parents will bring him/her into the world?

Definitely, the answer is NO ONE.

If that is the case, it means you are here on the absolute direction of The Creator. HE alone determined your coming and by extension the reason of your birth.

So, why are you always insisting on doing your own thing independent of The Creator. HE directs all that is happening around you and as such HE intend to make you fulfil your purpose through them.

Stay still, embrace your circumstances, learn through them and live by the lessons. By so doing, you will always be happy.

Stay Happy!

Don’t stay glued to sadness

It is said that one of the ways to be happy is to accept whatever the Creator brings our way. That is what is called ‘hugging our chaos’.

However, happiness will not be attained if we hold on to the sadness of our chaos.

The quality of happiness in the Light of the Creator does not rest on a person that is sad but rather the quality of sadness. This is because the Upper Realm gives us according to our state of mind. You cannot be sad and draw happiness.

DYING MOTHER LEAVES 20-POINT PLAN FOR HAPPINESS FOR HER FAMILY

A dying mother-of-four, wrote a 20-point plan of instructions for her family and friends in how to lead happy lives, as she battled terminal cancer. Mrs. Annmarie James-Thomas was diagnosed with cancer in 2011.

The 20 point plan is as follows:

  1. What you put out comes back all the time – no matter what.
  2. You define your own script. Don’t let others write your script for you.
  3. Whatever someone did to you in the past has no power over the present. Only if you give it power.
  4. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.
  5. Worrying is wasted time. Use the same energy for doing something about whatever worries you.
  6. Whatever you believe has more power than what you dream or wish or hope for. You become what you believe.
  7. If the only prayer you ever say is ‘Thank you’ then that will be enough.
  8. The happiness you feel is in direct proportion to the love you give.
  9. Failure is a signpost to turn you in another direction.
  10. If you make a choice that goes against what everyone else thinks, the world will not fall apart.
  11. Trust your instincts. Intuition doesn’t lie.
  12. Love yourself and then learn to extend that love to others in every encounter.
  13. Let passion drive your profession.
  14. Love doesn’t hurt. It feels really good.
  15. Every day brings a chance to start over.
  16. Doubt means “don’t”. Don’t answer. Don’t rush forward.
  17. When you don’t know what to do, be still. The answer will come.
  18. Trouble doesn’t last always.
  19. This too shall pass.
  20. I will act with the intent to be true to myself.

WHAT IF I AM NOT PERFORMING WELL!

The beginning of any thing is always filled with goals and targets to be fulfilled. Sometimes, it could be a desire to leave or inculcate certain habits in our lives.

As the new roman year 2018 set in, a lot of people set targets and resolutions for themselves.

As we all know, many people will fail to meet their targets or fulfill their resolutions. While many will not bother at all, some will become sad or miserable with their failure. Too bad!

What are the things you need to do if you are not performing well in order not to lose your happiness?

It is very possible that you may not meet your targets or achieve your resolution. When that happens,

1. Recognize what is in your control to change and what isn’t.
There are things that are beyond your control to change. You should allow such things to be without blaming ourselves or others. What we can’t change, we must accept.

2. Sincerely ask for advice and feedback.
When you are not performing well in meeting your target, feel free to ask for help from people who are competent in that field.

3. Include others in your improvement efforts so they can see and appreciate your progress.
When your underperformance is known to others, you can bring people into the efforts to meet your targets. When you do this, we get positive feedbacks that will ginger us to perform better with time.

You must also be mindful that you should not be defensive about your underperformance and try to blame it on outside events or other people. Blaming people leave negative thoughts in your hearts that drains your energy for happiness.

When it seems that the target is unrealizable, easily let go of the target without any sense of regret. Know that you cannot achieve all as you are not privy to all information when you were picking your target or resolution.

Finally, learn to change things you can and build the courage to accept what you cannot change.
